Your name and relationship to store: Barbara Sinclair, Owner

How long have you been in the Village?
We are the first store that opened in the village, forty-five years ago.

How did the idea for your business come about?
Our love of connecting children with the right toys led us to buy The Toy Soldier from the original owner, Grace Malloy, when she retired.

What makes your store so special?
We carry toys and gifts for all ages with an emphasis on toys that encourage imagination. We even feature retro toys. We make a point to connect with every customer on a personal level.

What about your store are you the most proud of?
The quality of the unique toys we sell, and our customer service. Over the years, our loyal customers have become an integral part of The Toy Soldier family.

What motivates you every day?
Knowing that we are helping people beyond selling toys.

What do you like the most about being in the Village?
We like the outdoor shopping experience and being a part of a village community. And, of course, we love the ducks!

In what ways does your business give back to the community in and around Mystic?
I work at a local homeless shelter every week and as we are able to we donate to local causes.
